You know the stories. Know them just as deeply as the woods from which they sprang. You know to stay on the path, to ignore that tug within your chest when the wind whispers through the leaves. You know it’s the voice of the trees trying to call you home. You know, in the furthest reaches of your soul, how perfectly you’d fit beneath their roots.

You know it’s not time yet.

You’re young, though sometimes your bones feel the centuries your ancestors lived. You’re only borrowing them after all....

I’ve had this short story written for a while now, and with the amazing Artemis II crew currently on their return to Earth, this seemed like a good time to share it. So here is my short story about a woman making sure her crew mates get to their destination safely after her hyper sleep pod malfunctions.

Art has always been divisive. As long as there have been people creating, there have been people speaking about those creations, writing about them, screaming about them. Art and critique go hand in hand. Some say that the most important facet of a painting is balance, the use of negative space on the canvas, intelligent use of colours, perspective etc. Etc. Etc.

Those people are wrong.

The most important thing, the aspect that needs to be perfect for a true work of art, is light and shadow....
